Via The Playlist: Casting news for the Ridley Scott’s ‘The Counselor,’ Dean Norris has joined the ever growing exciting cast of the crime thriller. We also now have word on whose playing who… In my mind on thought Cruz and Diaz would have been the reverse, but this is an interesting reversal.
Penned by Cormac McCarthy, the story follows an attorney (Michael Fassbender) who is in search of a big payday after he proposes to his girlfriend, Laura (Penelope Cruz). So he hooks up with Reiner (Javier Bardem), an acquaintance with deep criminal ties, for a new business proposition: they’ll take $20 million worth of cocaine from south of the border and offload it themselves, aided by the no-good Westray (Brad Pitt). Cameron Diaz is also on board as Malkina, who hooks up with Reiner. No word yet on Norris’ role, but we’d guess like any normal person, once the phone rang, he was up for whatever was offered.
