'The Town' scribe tapped for 'Top Gun 2' -... →
Via Variety: Peter Craig has been hired to write the sequel. Late last year X-Men First Class Ahsley Miller and Zack Stentz were hired, but nothing was ever written. “Top Gun 2,” which will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films and David Ellison’s Skydance Prods. I am in two minds about this one… does it really need a sequel? I am not in entirely sure it does, but none...

Nicole Kidman in talks for Rowan Joffe thriller... →
Nicole Kidman might be stepping on board Rowan Joffe’s pyschological thriller Before I Go To Sleep, Scott Free is set to produce.  The project is adapted from Steve Watson’s debut novel. Watson’s acclaimed novel is a psychological thriller about a woman who wakes up every morning without remembering the past 20 years of her life. This is an interesting concept and I’m actually...

The 2012 Oscars and the Film Festival Circuit: Why... →
For the Festival junkies, Indiewire has a rather interesting article on how the awards machine and festivals intersect. “Every year, film festivals around the world vie for bragging rights that the best such-and-such Oscar winner debuted at their festival.” Cannes Film Festival:  Six wins, 19 nominations (“The Artist,” “The Tree of Life,” “Midnight in...

EFM announces 15% attendance boost | News | Screen →
Good to hear that there was a boost despite the frigid weather. Trying new things is always a risk, but it seems that this year the new initiatives and sometimes a new location for an event paid dividiends for the following events, ’Meet the Docs, Sundance at EFM, American Indepedents at Berlin, Meet the distributors and meet the festivals. EFM and Berlin is on my list of Festivals to...

popculturebrain: Forbes is exclusively reporting that the creator will be abandoning his post as show runner due to reasons that include exhaustion. They also speculate that money could have something to do with it. He will be staying on the show in some capacity (I’d assume as EP). Speaking of shows that should end…  Hmmm, interesting news.
